Border Skirmish Allegations: Azerbaijan and Armenia Clash Again

A recent skirmish erupted along the disputed border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with each side trading accusations of aggression.

Azerbaijan claimed that Armenia launched an attack on its positions in the Nakhchivan direction. According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, Armenian forces targeted Azerbaijani positions near the settlement of Shada in the Shahbuz region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from positions near the settlement of Sultanbek in the Pashaly district.

The Azerbaijani military reportedly responded to the attack, though no casualties were reported on either side.

However, Armenia vehemently denied these allegations, accusing Azerbaijan of spreading false information. The Armenian Ministry of Defense refuted claims that Armenian forces had fired on Azerbaijani positions, labeling Azerbaijan’s statements as disinformation.

This latest incident adds to the ongoing tensions between the two countries. Previously, on March 31, Azerbaijan accused Armenia of deploying military equipment near the contact line, which Armenia denied. Subsequent days saw further exchanges of accusations and sporadic shelling between the two sides on April 2, 5, and 6.
