Over 12,000 Women Serve in Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces
Kazakhstan's Minister of Defense, Ruslan Jaksylıkov, recently convened with female soldiers from various branches of the country's armed forces in the capital city of Astana to commemorate International Women's Day on March 8th.
During the gathering, Minister Jaksylıkov expressed his gratitude to the female soldiers for their dedicated service and honored their significant contributions to the military. He highlighted that Kazakhstan’s armed forces currently boast a remarkable presence of over 12,000 female soldiers, comprising approximately 10% of the total military personnel.
Among these women are 25 colonels, 800 officers, and 6,000 contracted military personnel, underscoring the diverse roles and responsibilities undertaken by female servicemembers within the armed forces.
Minister Jaksılıkov acknowledged the exemplary performance of female soldiers across various specialties, including sailors, paratroopers, scouts, snipers, drivers, and mechanics. He emphasized that each female soldier faces unique challenges in their roles but fulfills their duties with dedication and professionalism.
Highlighting the significant achievements of female soldiers, Minister Jaksılıkov noted that 55 of them have been honored with state awards for their outstanding service and commitment to duty.
Moreover, Minister Jaksılıkov recognized the dual roles of female soldiers as both military personnel and caregivers within their families. He emphasized the vital contribution of women in safeguarding family welfare and fostering harmony and stability within society.
