The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is teaming up with inDrive, a mobile taxi ordering app, to improve safety and regulations in the automobile transportation sector.
This move follows meetings held with various taxi app operators, like Yandex and inDrive, chaired by Minister of Transport M. Karabaev on January 19.
These discussions highlighted the need to comply with road transport laws and enforce safety standards. Recommendations were given to address industry challenges.
In a subsequent meeting on February 12 led by Vice Minister of Transport M. Kaliakparov, road accident statistics were shared, emphasizing the risks of unauthorized passenger transportation via taxi apps. InDrive was urged to ensure drivers stick to work schedules.
As a result, both parties agreed to establish a memorandum of cooperation, aiming to gradually implement measures to comply with road transport regulations. Currently, a draft memorandum is being developed for this joint effort.
