Over 360,000 Rural Students Benefit from Upgraded Schools in Kazakhstan
As of the end of 2023, a comprehensive initiative has successfully transformed 1,008 schools located in small towns and villages, providing modernized learning environments for over 360,000 students
The ambitious project focuses on enhancing rural schools through major or ongoing repairs, updating infrastructure, furnishing subject rooms, upgrading furniture, enriching libraries, modernizing canteens, ensuring security, and establishing high-speed Internet access. The primary objective is to create the most comfortable and secure educational spaces for children.
Marlen Kasenov, Deputy Director of the Department of Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, highlighted the achievements of the modernization effort. A total of 653 schools underwent major and ongoing repairs, 612 subject classrooms received a modern overhaul, furniture was renewed in 587 schools, libraries in 771 schools were upgraded, and 263 schools saw improvements in their canteens. Furthermore, security conditions were enhanced in 715 schools.
Across the country, 1,516 state-of-the-art subject rooms for disciplines such as chemistry, physics, biology, STEM, and robotics have been inaugurated. The ongoing initiative plans to open another 1,000 modern school classrooms this year. The broader objective is to modernize a total of 5,000 rural schools by 2025, ensuring an improved and contemporary learning environment for students nationwide.
