An explosion occurred at the oil refinery of the Russian energy company Novatek in St. Petersburg
In the early hours of January 21, a blast rocked a Russian oil refinery located in Ust-Luga, a port city near St. Petersburg, TuraNews.kz reports citing News Liga.
According to news agency, two drones may have been involved in the incident, according to Russian publication Fontanka.
The regional governor, Alexander Drozdenko, conveyed on Telegram that the fire erupted at the Novatek company’s terminal. Fortunately, prompt evacuation ensured no casualties, he stated.
The Ust-Luga facility, operated by Novatek, specializes in processing stable gas condensate, transforming it into various petroleum products such as motor fuel, kerosene, diesel fraction, and fuel oil. The processed goods are then shipped for export by sea. The plant boasts an annual capacity of approximately 7 million tons of gas condensate.”
