Iran has reported carrying out airstrikes on two bases belonging to the Sunni group Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan, according to Iranian state media. These strikes occurred a day after Tehran launched similar attacks in northern Iraq and Syria. The targeted bases were situated in the Pakistani province of Balochistan, near the border with Iran.
Iranian authorities had previously accused Jaish al-Adl militants of attacking Iranian security forces in border regions, classifying the group as a terrorist organization. In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes on the bases.
Pakistani officials condemned Iran’s actions, labeling them as illegal. They reported that two children lost their lives, and three others were injured in the airstrikes. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry summoned Iran’s charge d’affaires, expressing strong protest against what they deemed an “unprovoked violation of the country’s airspace.”
The ministry stated, “As a result of the attack, two innocent children were killed, and three girls were injured. This violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty is completely unacceptable and could have serious consequences.” The incident adds to tensions in the region and raises concerns about the potential ramifications of cross-border military actions.
