A UN mission has arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh for the first time in 30 years, TuraNews.kz reports citing the Azerbaijani state agency APA.
The purpose of the mission is to assess the humanitarian needs of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, which was recently recaptured by Azerbaijan after a 44-day war. The mission includes representatives from various UN agencies, including the World Food Program, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
The UN mission went to Khankendi (Stepanakert), the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh. It is estimated that nearly 100,000 ethnic Armenians have fled Nagorno-Karabakh since the war, and the UN mission is expected to focus on providing humanitarian assistance to those who remain.
