Livestock tax proposed to be introduced in Kyrgyzstan
In Kyrgyzstan, there is a proposal to introduce a tax on agricultural animals. The respective bill has been put up for public discussion, Turanews.kz reports citing the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the amendments in the Tax Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the tax payment for agricultural animals (horses, cows, sheep, goats) will be made once a year in the following amounts: sheep and goats – 100 som (above 1 US dollar), large horned livestock – 250 som (2,3 US dollars), horses – 250 som (2,3 US dollars).
The changes will affect owners of domestic livestock who have more than 40 sheep and goats, 3 cows, and 2 horses in private ownership. Individuals paying the tax on agricultural animals will be exempt from paying grazing fees.
All funds will be directed to the local budget of local self-government bodies and used to address local issues, including providing veterinary services, livestock vaccination, and improving pasture infrastructure.
