Kazakhstan celebrates the People’s Unity Day

Today, Kazakhstan is celebrating the People’s Unity Day, Turanews.kz reports.

The People’s Unity Day has been celebrating in Kazakhstan since 1996 and it is included in the calendar of holidays of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Traditionally, on the first day of May, it is customary in the republic to rest and celebrate the unity and mutual respect of all ethnic groups living in the country. Cities host mass festivities, festivals and competitions, which are designed to demonstrate the uniqueness of different ethnic groups.

This holiday in Kazakhstan is celebrated annually on May 1 and is aimed at strengthening ties, respect and tolerance between representatives of different ethnic groups. In total, representatives of 124 ethnic groups live in peace and harmony in Kazakhstan.
