Canakkale Victory commemorated in Turkish Martyrdom in Baku
Employees of the Turkish embassy took part in the event at the memorial to Turkish soldiers
At the memorial to Turkish soldiers in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, an event was held in connection with the 108th anniversary of the victory in the battle of Canakkale – March 18.
The event was attended by Chargé d’Affaires of the Turkish Embassy in Baku Zeynep Kivilcim, military attaché, General Zekeriyya Yalcin, representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ufuk Turganer, adviser and staff of the Turkish embassy.
Those present honored the memory of the martyrs with a minute of silence.
The national anthems of the Azerbaijan and Turkish Republics were played.
Kivilcim signed the book of memory, laid flowers at the memorial.
Commemorative events were also held in Turkish schools under the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye in the Azerbaijani capital.
The participants of the event honored the memory of those killed during the February earthquakes with a minute of silence. The national anthems of the Azerbaijan and Turkish Republics were played. Kyvyldzhim during her speech spoke about the significance of the memorable day of March 18 for Türkiye.
Students of the Baku Turkish Lyceum read poems. For the repose of the souls of those who died during earthquakes with epicenters in Kahramanmarash, they read verses from the holy book of Muslims, the Koran, and offered prayers.
On Saturday, March 18, Türkiye celebrates the 108th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Canakkale, one of the largest and bloodiest battles of the First World War.
During the First World War, the whole world witnessed the heroic confrontation of the Turkish troops in the battle for Canakkale, where Mustafa Kemal Ataturk forced the allied troops to recognize the Dardanelles as impregnable.
The battle on the Gelibolu peninsula at Canakkale took place both on land and at sea.
Naval battles continued from February 19 to March 18, 1915.
The land confrontation lasted from April 25, 1915 to January 9, 1916.
This battle is considered one of the bloodiest battles in Turkish history.
