Another 5.6 Magnitude quake hits Türkiye’s eastern Malatya province

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake has rattled the eastern province of Malatya on Feb. 27 three days after the last devastating earthquakes, killing at least one person and causing some already damaged buildings to collapse, Turanews.kz reports.

Stating that 29 buildings collapsed, AFAD noted that search and rescue operations are continuing in six buildings.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.96 kilometers below the earth’s surface and its epicenter was in the Yesilyurt area.

The earthquake comes as Türkiye grapples with the aftermath of the deadly twin Feb. 6 quakes that devastated the southeastern region and left over 44,000 people dead.
