Writer Zhumabai Shashtayuly Passed Away

The esteemed figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, writer Zhumabai Shashtayuly, has passed away at the age of 74.

Zhumabai Shashtayuly was a recipient of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan scholarship and was honored with awards such as the People’s Republic of Zhambyl and “Alash” prizes. He was also a member of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.

Throughout his career, he contributed to various newspapers and magazines including “Kommunizm Zholy,” “Leninshil Youth,” “Socialist Kazakhstan,” “Young Alash,” and “Zhalyn.” He held positions such as editor-in-chief at the international newspaper “Zaman-Kazakhstan” and the newspaper “Kazakh literature,” as well as editor-in-chief of Kazakh radio.

Zhumabai Shashtayuly’s collections and novels, including “Kyzyn Kar,” “Zhala and Nala,” “Zhyr Tiger,” “Frozen Dance of Our Time,” and “Zhangiryk,” deeply resonated with readers, finding a special place in their hearts.
