World Bank Raises Tajikistan’s 2025 Growth Outlook to 7.6%

The World Bank has raised Tajikistan’s 2025 economic growth forecast to 7.6 percent, up by 0.6 points from its June projection, according to the latest Europe and Central Asia Economic Update — Jobs and Prosperity.

The report notes that Tajikistan’s economy continues to show strong momentum, driven by remittances from migrant workers, public investment, and steady domestic demand. Growth is expected to ease to 5.2 percent in 2026 and 4.7 percent in 2027, following broader regional trends.

In 2024, the country recorded robust GDP growth of 8.4 percent, with construction, services, and agriculture leading the expansion. The World Bank attributes this performance to ongoing infrastructure projects and favorable external factors supporting near-term stability.

Across Central Asia, economic output is projected to grow by 5.9 percent in 2025. Tajikistan, together with Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, remains among the region’s fastest-growing economies.

The World Bank established its partnership with Tajikistan in 1993, following the country’s accession to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association, and later to the International Finance Corporation in 1994. This collaboration has since supported major investments in Tajikistan’s economic development.
