World Bank Expresses Willingness to Aid Kyrgyzstan’s Energy Initiatives

A meeting convened between Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Economy and Commerce, Daniyar Amangeldiev, and Dominique Favret, the Executive Director of the World Bank, alongside Olivier Bangerter, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Kyrgyzstan. The ministry's press service disclosed this information.

Amangeldiev underscored the identification of strategic projects, particularly the construction of large hydroelectric power plants, as pivotal investment opportunities. These endeavors aim to optimize water and energy resources while tapping into renewable energy sources. Notably, the minister highlighted the paramount importance of advancing major energy ventures, including the construction of Kambarata HPP-1 and CASA-1000.

In response, Favret expressed the World Bank’s commitment to extending support for prioritized projects, with a focal point on bolstering the energy sector. Both parties outlined plans for robust collaboration across key industries.

Currently, Kyrgyzstan is the recipient of 33 ongoing projects valued at $993.2 million, facilitated through the World Bank.
