Winter Makes a Comeback in Kazakhstan: Snow Forecasted in Mid-April
Forecasters warn of sudden drop in temperatures and snowfall across parts of the country

Kazakhstan is bracing for an unexpected return of winter, as meteorologists from Kazhydromet predict a sharp temperature drop between April 19 and 21. Rainfall is expected to turn into snow in some northern and eastern regions, while temperatures will gradually rise afterwards.
“The spring sunshine was short-lived for residents in the north,” the national weather agency said. “A northwestern cyclone is bringing colder air masses, leading to a significant drop in temperatures and a shift from rain to snow — even the south will feel the chill.”
Despite the sudden cold snap, forecasters reassured the public that spring isn’t far behind. Gradual warming is anticipated by the end of the week, especially in western regions where real spring weather is already on the horizon with daytime highs reaching up to +30°C.
Earlier this month, Kazakhstan recorded its highest temperature in 81 years.
