Val Kilmer, Star of ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Batman Forever,’ Dies at 65  

Val Kilmer, the versatile Hollywood actor known for his roles as "Iceman," Jim Morrison, and Batman, passed away Tuesday evening in Los Angeles surrounded by family and friends. He was 65.  

According to reports, the American actor, famous for his performances in films like “Batman Forever” and “The Doors,” died from complications related to pneumonia. His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed the news.  

Kilmer died in Los Angeles Tuesday evening in the presence of his loved ones. He had previously battled throat cancer, diagnosed in 2014, but had recovered from the disease.

Born in Los Angeles in 1959, Kilmer began his career as a theater actor. His breakthrough role on the big screen came in the 1984 spy comedy “Top Secret!” followed by the comedy “Real Genius” in 1985.

He later starred alongside Tom Cruise in the action film “Top Gun” and became one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors in the 1990s. During this time, he portrayed The Doors’ lead singer Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s eponymous film and played Batman in “Batman Forever” in 1993.
