From January to September, citizens purchased 152,000 license plates through the Avtoraqam service, amounting to a total expenditure of 620 billion soums (approximately $48.4 million), according to data from the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.
The report reveals that 97% of these plates were purchased by individuals, while legal entities accounted for the remaining 3%. The plates varied widely in price: the least expensive plate sold for 1.7 million soums ($133), while the most sought-after plate reached a record 517.1 million soums ($40,400).
The exchange also saw a spike in mobile number sales, with 3,577 numbers sold for 14.6 billion soums ($1.1 million) over the same period—an increase of 1.5 times compared to last year.
Since 2017, an electronic system has allowed buyers to participate in auctions for custom license plates, with high demand reflecting a growing preference for personalization on the roads.
