Uzbekistan’s public debt reached $43.9 billion as of October 1. According to the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the country’s debt has grown by $3.75 billion since the beginning of the year.
Debt growth slowed in the third quarter, during which Uzbekistan borrowed $473 million from international financial institutions. The sharpest increase was recorded in the first quarter, when public debt jumped by $2.38 billion between January and March.
Despite the rise, the debt-to-GDP ratio decreased from 35% to 32.3%.
