Uzbekistan Welcomes 1,859 Newborns on New Year’s Day

In a joyous start to the new year, Uzbekistan celebrated the arrival of 1,859 newborns on January 1, 2024, TuraNews.kz reports.

The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, through its press service, revealed that the nation witnessed the birth of 847 girls and 1,012 boys on the first day of the year. Among these births, 21 cases involved twins, while in the Surkhandarya region, a rare occurrence unfolded with the birth of triplets.

The Kashkadarya region took the lead with the highest number of newborns, welcoming 207 children. The top five regions in terms of birth rates also included Andijan (201 newborns), Samarkand (196), Fergana (195), and Surkhandarya (185).

During the festive period, the Ministry of Health reported that 7,500 doctors were actively working across 229 maternity complexes. These medical professionals provided essential assistance and care to mothers in labor, ensuring a smooth start to the lives of the newly arrived citizens.
