The U.S. Department of State has released details of the agreements reached following talks between the presidents of the United States and Uzbekistan, according to local media reports.
Under the agreements, the United States will receive priority access to jointly developed mineral deposits. The two countries will also exchange geological data based on jointly produced maps of critical mineral resources.
In addition, up to USD 400 million will be invested to expand the supply chain for critical and rare-earth minerals.
Uzbekistan has committed to purchasing small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) from American energy companies.
Earlier this year, in May, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved the new 77-megawatt NuScale Power Module SMR design.
