Uzbekistan to Introduce ‘Green’ and ‘Red’ Corridor System at Kazakhstan Border Checkpoints

Starting in September, Uzbekistan will implement a “green” and “red” corridor system at its border checkpoints for vehicles.

The decision was signed into law by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports Kazinform. Initially, the system will be introduced at “Gishtkuprik” (“Zhibek Zholy”), “Zangiota” (“Kaplanbek”), and “Dauit-Ata” (“Tazhen”) checkpoints.

Under the new rules, vehicles carrying safe goods will be able to pass through the “green” corridor with minimal checks, while those in the “red” corridor will undergo full customs inspections. Customs officers retain the right to inspect any vehicle in the “green” corridor if deemed suspicious.

The system will first operate in a pilot phase, and if successful, it will be rolled out to all border checkpoints by September 1, 2026.
