Uzbekistan to Host Silk Fashion Week as Part of Innovative Tourism Program

Uzbekistan is set to launch its international fashion extravaganza, Silk Uzbekistan Fashion Week, as a key component of the "Another Day of Travel in Uzbekistan" tourism initiative.

The program, scheduled to commence in 2024, aims to extend tourists’ stays by introducing diverse tourism opportunities.

One of the major highlights of the initiative is the organization of Silk Fashion Week, an international fashion event slated to take place biennially during the third week of May. The global fashion community, including leading fashion houses, will be invited to participate, with a special competition encouraging the creation of garments using Uzbekistan’s silk fabrics. The competition boasts a substantial prize fund of two million dollars.

As part of the broader strategy to promote tourism, Uzbekistan will allow jewelry stores to install vending machines offering measured Uzbek gold bars and Central Bank banknotes. Additionally, thematic festivals will be held each season, celebrating various types of tourism such as environmental, extreme, gastronomic, health, beach, historical and educational, cultural and entertainment, skiing, and more. These initiatives collectively aim to attract a significant number of foreign tourists to the country.
