Uzbekistan to Honor War Veterans with ’80 Years of Victory’ Medal

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

According to the document, veterans of the Great Patriotic War will receive a one-time financial reward of $10,000. Citizens classified under the same category will be granted 25 million Uzbek soms (approximately 970,000 Kazakh tenge).

Additionally, individuals who contributed to the war effort on the home front between 1941 and 1945 will receive 3 million soms (around 116,000 tenge).

As stated in the decree, these expenses will be covered by the national budget.

War veterans will also be awarded the ’80 Years of Victory’ medal, and a series of commemorative events will be held across the country. On May 9, at 21:00, a fireworks display will take place in Tashkent.

It is worth noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II. In recognition of this milestone, 2025 has been declared the ‘Year of the 80th Anniversary of Victory and Unity in the Fight Against Nazism’ in CIS countries.
