Scheduled for a Sunday, the elections will determine deputies for both the Legislative Chamber and Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, as well as deputies for regional, city, and district councils. This decision, confirmed at a Central Election Commission meeting on Friday, is in line with the date specified in the Constitution.
The campaign will commence three months before the elections, under the slogan “My choice is my prosperous Motherland.” The elections will fill 150 seats in the Legislative Chamber, 56 in the Senate, and 65 in the Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan. Additionally, deputies will be elected for regional councils, Tashkent, and 208 district (city) councils.
The election process is expected to involve the active participation of approximately 30,000 candidates, 90,000 authorized representatives, over 120,000 election commission members, and more than 70,000 local and international observers, according to the CEC.
