Uzbekistan sends humanitarian aid to Ukraine

A shipment of humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan arrived in Ukraine on August 19, according to Ukrainian Ambassador Mykola Doroshenko, Turanews.kz reports.

The aid, which was worth 785,800 hryvnias (about $21,300), included winter, sports, and children’s shoes, as well as knitwear for women and children. It also included medical syringes, cotton wool, and infusion systems for intravenous use, worth 157,800 hryvnias (about $4,300).

The aid was received by Lubomyr Bashinsky, the chairman of the International Society of Ukrainian-Uzbek Friendship. It has been transferred to the department of social policy of the Drohobych district administration of the Lviv region, as well as to the Lviv regional council for special medical purposes.

The shipment of humanitarian aid is the latest in a series of donations from Uzbekistan to Ukraine. In April 2022, Uzbekistan sent 10 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including food, medicine, and clothing.

The Ukrainian government has welcomed the humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan. In a statement, the government said that the aid would help to “alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian people”.

The conflict in Ukraine has caused a humanitarian crisis, with millions of people displaced from their homes. The United Nations estimates that over 10 million people have fled Ukraine since the start of the conflict.
