The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has officially ratified the Treaty on Allied Relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan, TuraNews.kz reports citing the Kazinform agency.
During a routine plenary meeting on November 25, the Senate of Uzbekistan considered the law for the ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on allied relations.
Senators highlighted the longstanding and robust partnership between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, emphasizing their role as closest neighbors and strategic partners with a history of cooperation. Recent years have witnessed a new era of collaboration, with rapid advancements in political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and various other spheres.
The treaty outlines comprehensive cooperation in foreign policy, defense, security, migration, industrial collaboration, joint measures for the rational use of transboundary water resources, and the strengthening of ties between parliaments, political parties, and public organizations.
Senators emphasized that the ratification of the treaty aims to maintain the spiritual and cultural closeness between the two nations, fostering stronger relations in the fields of culture, science, education, and sports.
Particularly noteworthy is the inclusion of the Regulations on the Supreme Interstate Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the treaty’s annex. This council, headed by the heads of state, signifies a crucial aspect of the agreement.
It’s worth recalling that the Treaty on Allied Relations was signed by Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan on December 22, 2022, in Tashkent.
