Uzbekistan Sees Major Tourism Boost, Led by Visitors from Kyrgyzstan

Uzbekistan welcomed 4.2 million foreign tourists between January and May 2025 — a significant 48.2% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the country’s National Statistics Committee.

Most tourists came from neighboring countries, with Kyrgyzstan topping the list at 1.2 million visitors. Tajikistan followed with 993,700 tourists, then Kazakhstan with 889,600, and Russia with 334,300.

The report also highlights the arrival of tourists from countries beyond Central Asia. These include Turkey (65,800), China (51,900), India (28,500), and Italy (17,400). An additional 201,100 visitors came from other nations around the world.

Authorities noted that Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage remains the primary draw for international tourists.
