Uzbekistan Sees Decline in Gas Production but Doubles Exports

Uzbekistan's natural gas output dropped by 3.1% in the first half of 2025, with major enterprises producing 21.7 billion cubic meters, 700 million less than the same period in 2024, according to the State Statistics Committee.

Despite the decline, the country significantly boosted its gas exports, doubling foreign sales and earning approximately $355 million in revenue.

Meanwhile, coal production saw an uptick. Uzbek miners extracted over 3 million tons of solid fuel in six months — 400,000 tons more than the previous year.

It’s worth noting that in 2024, Uzbekistan also sharply increased its gas imports, spending more than $1.6 billion — twice as much as in 2023.
