Under the new legislation, military personnel and law enforcement officers are strictly prohibited from engaging in entrepreneurial activities, accepting benefits or gifts tied to their official duties, and participating in gambling.
The restrictions also extend to performing or organizing religious rites, applying for foreign citizenship or residence permits, and exploiting their official positions for undue benefits or advantages.
The law, set to take effect in January 2025, applies to members of the Armed Forces, Ministry of Internal Affairs, customs, prosecutor’s office, and National Guard.
This move mirrors a similar measure in Kazakhstan, where President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently approved amendments banning military personnel from gambling or participating in betting activities involving money or valuables.
