Uzbekistan Introduces Robot Journalist Sobira Holdarova

The National News Agency of Uzbekistan has launched a robot journalist named Sobira Holdarova, powered by artificial intelligence (AI). This AI correspondent delivers official information and the latest news in nine languages, including Uzbek, Kazakh, English, Russian, French, Arabic, Chinese, German, and Spanish.

The robot is named after Sobira Holdarova, Central Asia’s first professional female journalist. The AI’s prototype is based on Uzbek journalist Dildora Abdukhalilova. Currently in a testing phase, the AI reporter is expected to expand its video reporting capabilities over time, with a strong focus on information security.

To address potential risks, such as the spread of fake news, the agency has implemented security measures. Each video produced by the AI features a unique QR code that links to the official website of the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA). Viewers can verify the authenticity of the content by checking the linked text. Videos without a QR code or with broken links are considered fake.

This innovative step in journalism demonstrates the significant potential of AI, though it also highlights the need for caution in safeguarding against misinformation.
