Uzbekistan became a full member of COPUOS

The UN General Assembly decided that Uzbekistan to join the Committee for the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).

The Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN structures in Vienna explained that the COPUOS is a special committee of the Organization, whose task is to review international cooperation and study the measures necessary for the implementation of programs for the use of outer space for peaceful purposes.

Now that Uzbekistan has become a full member of this committee, the total number of participants has reached 97. In addition, there are 41 other international organizations with the status of observer of the Committee and its subcommittees.

Thanks to the membership in the Committee, Uzbekistan can participate at the global level in monitoring and discussing processes and events related to outer space. This will affect both the expansion of opportunities for international cooperation and access to participation in all COPUOS events.
