Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agree to deepen strategic partnership

During a telephone conversation on July 10, 2023, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov discussed the further deepening of strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted forms of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, Turanews.kz reports.

President Berdimuhamedov sincerely congratulated President Mirziyoyev on his convincing victory in the recent early presidential elections in Uzbekistan. The two leaders noted with satisfaction the active contacts at various levels between the two countries, including the holding of meetings of intergovernmental commissions, political consultations, as well as meetings of the ministers of transport, energy and culture.

They also noted that trade between the two countries continues to grow steadily, and important humanitarian programs aimed at bringing the two friendly peoples closer together are being successfully implemented.

Both leaders expressed the importance of strengthening comprehensive cooperation and promoting practical cooperation projects. They instructed their relevant officials to work closely together to identify and implement new areas of cooperation that would benefit the people of both countries.

Recall that according to the results of the early presidential elections held in Uzbekistan on July 9, 2023, the candidate from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People – the Liberal Democratic Party (UzLiDeP) Shavkat Mirziyoyev won 87.05 percent of the vote.
