Uzbekistan Aims to Reduce Poverty Rate to 6%

Despite a challenging geopolitical environment, Uzbekistan's economy grew by 6.3%, reaching $111 billion.

According to Kazinform, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with leading business figures to discuss the nation’s economic progress. The President’s press service reported that $38 billion was invested in industry, agriculture, and services, while the country’s annual exports surpassed $26 billion.

President Mirziyoyev highlighted that Uzbekistan’s poverty rate will decrease to 9% by the end of 2023.

“If we continue working based on effective cooperation, I am confident that we can reduce this figure to 6% in the coming years,” he stated.

Uzbekistan is also nearing the completion of its accession to the World Trade Organization.

For 2024, the country plans to invest $43 billion. Meanwhile, the Senate approved Uzbekistan’s 2025 budget, forecasting consolidated revenues at 431 trillion soums (approximately $33.4 billion) and expenditures at 480.5 trillion soums (around $37.3 billion).
