This announcement was made by Ilkhom Norkulov, the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, during an interview on the Oʻzbekiston 24 TV channel on October 17.
The statement came during a meeting led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where participants discussed the anticipated economic outcomes for the current year and key macroeconomic indicators for 2025.
Norkulov emphasized that an analysis of the nation’s potential indicates that achieving a GDP of $200 billion is feasible. He also projected that the GDP per capita would exceed $5,000, a significant increase from previous expectations.
“There are all the possibilities for this. We are building a new economy, focusing not just on volume but also on quality. The President has consistently stressed the importance of enhancing added value and increasing the share of value-added products,” he remarked.
By the end of 2024, Uzbekistan’s economy is anticipated to grow from $100 billion to $111 billion.
