The decision was formalized through a decree signed by Shavkat Umurzakov, the Hokim (mayor) of Uzbekistan’s capital, as part of the “National Tashkent” project, Kazinform reports. To implement the initiative, a special task force will be established.
According to the document, all public events in Tashkent will be decorated with traditional Uzbek motifs, and participants will be required to wear traditional Uzbek clothing.
Additionally, the project encourages government employees in the city and surrounding districts to wear traditional attire not only on Fridays but on a daily basis.
Public transport, including buses, metro cars, and stations, will also feature elements of traditional Uzbek design as part of the initiative.
