A meeting between the administration of the Syrdarya region in Uzbekistan and representatives of the Chinese company BGI was organized to create distinctive varieties of rice, TuraNews.kz reports.
According to the Dunyo agency, the meeting discussed the implementation of new projects in Uzbekistan and the exchange of experiences in introducing special varieties of rice and other crops in the country.
Vice President of BGI, Terence Sion, briefed the Uzbek side on the company’s activities. He mentioned that a special variety of rice has been successfully tested in the fields of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces, showing promising results in water and labor efficiency, as well as high yields. It is known that this particular variety will undergo trials in South Asian countries.
The parties also exchanged views on the status of joint projects being implemented in Uzbekistan.
