
UN Secretary-General António Guterres is set to visit Turkmenistan to take part in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, scheduled for August 5–8 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, according to TDH.
Upon arrival at Turkmenbashi International Airport, Guterres will be welcomed by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The UN chief is expected to highlight the importance of participating in a forum hosted by a country advancing steadily on the path of sustainable development.
Berdimuhamedov is also expected to note that hosting the high-level UN event reflects the international community’s trust in Turkmenistan.
During his visit, Guterres will hold official talks with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to discuss bilateral relations and international cooperation. A separate meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is also planned.
The conference will gather heads of state, leaders of international organizations, and high-ranking officials. Guterres’ presence is expected to enhance the event’s global profile and strengthen trust-based cooperation among landlocked developing countries.
