President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine upon Mustafa Abduldzhemil, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, in celebration of his 80th birthday. The announcement comes via a press release from the Office of the President of Ukraine, TuraNews.kz citing Anadolu Agency.
President Zelensky extended his congratulations to Mustafa Abduldzhemil on reaching this milestone and expressed gratitude for his unwavering commitment to defending Ukraine’s interests and advocating for the rights of the Crimean Tatars.
“I want to thank you for being together in this fight. I wish you much health to see our just victory, the restoration of the territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Ukraine. Crimea is Ukraine,” remarked President Zelensky.
Mustafa Abduldzhemil, in response, conveyed that receiving the highest distinction was an honor for him, especially under the current circumstances. He emphasized the significant moral support the award represents for his compatriots enduring a decade of occupation.
