U.S. Imposes New Visa Restrictions on Kyrgyz Citizens

The U.S. Department of State has introduced new restrictions on the issuance of non-immigrant visas for citizens of Kyrgyzstan, TuraNews.kz reports citing Kabar.kg.

In response, Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced concern, stating that the U.S. imposed the measures unilaterally and without prior notice. The ministry emphasized that such actions require clarification through diplomatic dialogue.

A meeting is scheduled soon between Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Almaz Imangaziyev and U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Leslie Viguerie. Discussions will focus on the reasons behind the visa restrictions, possible ways to ease them, and measures to prevent similar situations in the future.

The Foreign Ministry also reiterated its commitment to constructive engagement with the U.S. and pledged to continue protecting the rights and interests of Kyrgyz citizens abroad.
