Two Kazakh Citizen Rescued from Labor Slavery in Thailand

Over the past two years, about 200 citizens of Kazakhstan have fallen into labor slavery in the territories bordering Thailand.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan announced the successful rescue of two Kazakh citizens from labor slavery in Thailand.

According to Aibek Smadiyarov, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the rescue operation was initiated after receiving a distress message from a Kazakh citizen via the Consul of Kazakhstan in Thailand.

The message highlighted the dire situation of individuals trapped in labor slavery within the “golden triangle” region. Subsequent investigations revealed that two Kazakh citizens were in distress, prompting negotiations with local authorities. After a month-long effort, the individuals were successfully liberated and are currently en route back to Kazakhstan.

Smadiyarov further disclosed that in recent years, around 200 Kazakh citizens have been ensnared in labor slavery across territories bordering Thailand, including Myanmar and Laos. The embassy’s intervention led to the liberation of 28 Kaz
