Twelve Children Poisoned by Sweets in Kyrgyzstan

On November 27, a group of schoolchildren in Iskra, a village in the Chui district of Kyrgyzstan, suffered from food poisoning after consuming candies and a sweet spray.

The Chui Regional Internal Affairs Department reported that 12 minors, aged between 11 and 15 (born in 2012, 2009, and 2008), were admitted to the Tokmok City Hospital with symptoms of food poisoning. Medical assistance was promptly provided to all affected children, and they were subsequently discharged in stable condition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 12-year-old student in the 7th grade had discovered a bag of candies branded “BEN 10” and a bottle of sweet spray at a landfill in Iskra. He shared the treats with his classmates at school, which led to the poisoning incident.

The authorities have confiscated the sweets and ordered a forensic examination of the products to determine their composition and potential contaminants. The case has been officially registered, and a preliminary investigation is ongoing.
