TURKSOY Secretary-General Sultan Raev Honored with the “Mehmet Doğan Turkic World Literature” Award

The Writers’ Union of Türkiye (TYB) held its annual awards ceremony to recognize distinguished writers, thinkers, and artists.

During a press conference on January 1, TYB President Musa Kazım Arıcan announced the winners of the 2025 awards. Among them was TURKSOY Secretary-General Sultan Raev, who received the prestigious “Mehmet Doğan Turkic World Literature” Award.

Sultan Raev, known for his diplomatic contributions and literary achievements, is celebrated as a writer, playwright, and screenwriter. His works, such as “The Fifth Day of the Week”, “The Boy Who Held the Sun”, and “The Lunatic Asylum”, have been translated into Turkish, bridging Turkic and world literature.

Speaking at the event, Arıcan highlighted the late Mehmet Doğan’s enduring legacy in literature and the importance of honoring exceptional talent to inspire future generations. Raev expressed gratitude, stating the award motivates him to continue creating impactful works.
