Turkmenistan’s smart city “Arkadag” receive the status of national importance

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to receive the status of nastional importance, Turanews.kz reports.

The city of Arkadag is given a special legal status – the status of a city of state importance according to the law of Turkmenistan on “Arkadag”.

The law came into force on 23 March 2023. It defines the legal, organizational and other bases for the activities of public authorities in connection with the implementation of the functions of the city of Arkadag.

Arkadag (Turkmen arka “behind” + dag “mountain”, connoting “protector”) is a city in southern Turkmenistan. It’s exptected that Turkmenistan will spend nearly $5 billion to build the new Arkadag city which one planned to be builded as a smart city with the most modern technologies and environmental requirements
