This announcement was made by Stephen Travers, Director of GaffneyCline, during a panel discussion on “Monetization of Natural Gas – A Key Low-Carbon Fuel in the Energy Transition,” held as part of the “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2024” international conference and exhibition in Ashgabat.
Travers stated that by 2030, gas production at the Galkynysh field is expected to reach 160 million cubic meters per day. He emphasized that this increase will create new opportunities for economic growth and enhance the energy security of Turkmenistan.
To meet these ambitious production goals, the active development of the field is essential, which includes modernizing production and processing technologies. According to Travers, boosting gas output will not only enhance the country’s financial performance but also diversify export routes, playing a crucial role in strengthening Turkmenistan’s economic resilience.
He also highlighted that investments in infrastructure and modern technology will be critical for the successful implementation of the project. Such advancements will improve gas production efficiency while minimizing environmental risks associated with field operations.
It is worth noting that a seven-stage development plan for the Galkynysh field has been previously established in collaboration with the Natural Gas Research Institute in Turkmenistan.
