Turkmenistan Launches New and Updated Polymer Banknotes

The Central Bank of Turkmenistan has unveiled a series of upgraded polymer banknotes, introducing refreshed versions of the 1-, 5-, and 10-manat notes, along with a brand-new 200-manat denomination, Trend reports.

According to the regulator, the updated notes come with enhanced security layers, improved durability against wear, dirt, and physical damage, and more advanced visual protection features. While the design and colors of the lower denominations remain familiar, they now carry the emblem of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The newly issued 200-manat note features the Arkadag Monument on the front and Arkadag City Hall on the reverse side. All new and revised banknotes include the year of issue and the facsimile signature of the Central Bank’s chairman.

All denominations are valid nationwide and must be accepted at face value. Older notes issued in 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2020 remain legal tender.
