A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, engaged in discussions with Afghan officials during a visit to Afghanistan on December 16-17, TuraNews.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, meetings with Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki, Minister of Mining Industry Shahabutdin Delavar, and Minister of Industry and Trade Nuretdin Azizi covered various aspects of bilateral cooperation.
Key topics on the agenda included the status of ongoing projects such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) high-voltage power transmission line. The delegation also discussed the expansion of Afghanistan’s railway infrastructure.
Of particular note was the discussion surrounding the initiation of the TAPI gas pipeline project in Herat. The project aims to establish a vital energy link between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, with potential extensions to Pakistan and India.
During the visit, foreign ministers and delegation members from both countries toured energy and transport facilities, witnessing firsthand the progress of construction efforts led by Turkmen and Afghan companies.
