Türkiye’s Safi Holding Eyes $200 Million Sugar Plant Investment in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan may soon see the construction of a high-tech sugar processing plant, as Turkish industrial giant Safi Holding considers launching a large-scale project in the country.

During a recent meeting between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov, and Safi Holding CEO Safi Atakan, the two sides discussed the company’s plans to build a sugar plant capable of producing up to 140,000 tons of sugar annually and processing up to 1 million tons of sugar beet.

The investment volume is projected to range between $150 million and $200 million. Investors are currently evaluating potential regions for the facility, with factors such as sufficient arable land and infrastructure availability playing a key role in site selection.

The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed its readiness to provide comprehensive support, including state incentives within the existing legal framework.

“This project will receive full government backing,” said Minister Saparov.

Safi Atakan, in turn, expressed appreciation for Kazakhstan’s interest and highlighted the country’s strong agro-industrial capacity as a key advantage for developing the sugar sector.
