Türkiye’s Population Surpasses 85 Million
The population of Türkiye has exceeded 85 million people, as reported by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK)
The latest data reveals that the population reached 85,372,377 in 2023, indicating an increase of 92,824 individuals compared to the figures recorded in 2022.
Among the demographic details, men constitute 50.1% of the population, totaling 42,734,071 people, while women make up 49.9%, with a population of 42,638,306 individuals.
Despite a notable decline in the annual population growth rate from 7.1 per thousand people in 2022 to 1.1 per thousand people in 2023, Türkiye continues to experience modest growth.
Notably, the majority of the population, approximately 93%, resides in provincial and county capitals, although this figure has slightly decreased from 93.4% in the previous year. Conversely, the share of rural residents has seen a marginal increase, rising from 6.6% to 7% over the same period.
