Türkiye Restores Access to Instagram After Nine-Day Block

Access to Instagram has been restored in Türkiye following a nine-day block.

The social media platform regained availability after agreeing to comply with the country’s demands regarding censorship and content related to crime. This information was shared by Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloglu on X (Twitter).

Instagram users in Türkiye lost access to the platform on August 2. While the authorities did not provide an official reason for the block, it followed an incident where Fahrettin Altun, head of the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration, accused Instagram of censoring posts expressing condolences over the death of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas.
