Türkiye Ranks Third Globally for Blue Flag Beaches in 2024

In 2024, Türkiye secured the third spot in the global ranking of countries with the highest number of Blue Flag beaches. This achievement was announced by Mehmet Ersoy, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye.

Spain topped the list with the most well-maintained, clean beaches, followed by Greece in second place. Italy ranked fourth, and France came in fifth.

This year, 567 beaches in Türkiye received the prestigious Blue Flag Award, an increase of 16 from the previous year. Among Turkish regions, Antalya leads with 233 awarded beaches, followed by Muğla with 112 and Izmir with 64. Mersin also made it into the top ten regions.

Within Antalya province, Manavgat boasts the highest number of Blue Flags with 59 awarded beaches. Alanya follows closely with 56, and Kumluca ranks third with 52 Blue Flags.

The Blue Flag program, supported by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), operates in 50 countries worldwide, recognizing excellence in environmental management and water quality.
